‘De enige grens is mijn eigen fantasie’
Dit kopte het Amsterdams Stadsblad op woensdag 16 oktober 2002 bij de vooraankondiging van Vighnesh’ eerste speelfilm van ‘The V Saga’ in De Smet Studio’s in Amsterdam. Hij was toen 19 jaar. Acht jaar later verscheen deel twee uit de serie “The V”. Weer was de première in Amsterdam, maar nu in het prestigieuze Tuschinski Theater op 24 september 2011.
Al vanaf zijn twaalfde is Vighnesh bezig met het maken van films. Zijn Indiase achtergrond, fascinatie voor Westerse techniek en wetenschap en zijn liefde voor het Nederlandse landschap – en dan met name Overijssel – vormen het gereedschap en het decor voor zijn fantasierijke films.
Wat indruk maakt, is het feit dat Vighnesh zelf het verhaal geschreven heeft, de muziek maakt, de film regisseert, de hoofdrol speelt en de hele film van begin tot het einde zelf bewerkt. Er is geen onderdeel van het filmvak wat hij niet verstaat.
De V Saga wordt hem verteld in zijn dromen. Als Vighnesh ontwaakt schrijft hij alles op wat hij zich herinnert. De beelden, de muziek en de gehele strekking van het verhaal. Als het verhaal op papier staat, worden de karakters uitgezocht. Deze kunnen acteurs zijn maar ook de buren, vrienden van hem of iemand die hij tegenkomt en past in datgene wat hij zoekt.
Inmiddels heeft Vighnesh een enthousiast team bij elkaar gebracht dat in zijn films meespeelt: ‘The V team’.
Dan volgen de opnames en het eindeloos perfectioneren van de rollen van iedere acteur en actrice. Tientallen keren worden scènes of zinnen herhaald. Net zolang tot het personage tot leven komt zoals Vighnesh deze voor ogen heeft.
De V Saga gaat in grote lijnen over het thema Goed versus Kwaad, respect voor Moeder Aarde en het beste uit de mens naar voren halen. Vighnesh’ onmiskenbare Indiase achtergrond met vele mythologische verhalen over Goden, buitenaards leven en andere planeten verbinden deze thema’s in fantasierijke werelden en personages. Het doet denken aan andere sci-fi films zoals Star Trek, Star Wars en Lord of the Rings. Toch is het verhaal tegelijkertijd zo origineel dat ‘The V Saga’ volkomen op zichzelf staat.
Op 5 november 2017 gaat de derde film uit de V Saga in première. Weer in Amsterdam en – hoe kan het ook anders – opnieuw in het Tuschinski Theater.

Short summary
Professor Engfield discovers a hidden, fairylike land that can grant him anything he wishes for. Only the chosen one, ‘The V’, can stop Engfield and his secret agents from misusing this ultimate power.
Synopsis.
In ancient times, humans were able to travel beyond our world to the hidden land of the Supreme Galaxy. This Supreme Galaxy is a communication device where all our thoughts go and through which our wishes are materialized.
Due to the greed and violence of humankind, the earthly gateway to the Supreme Galaxy has been sealed.
Realizing the unlimited possibilities of the Supreme Galaxy, Professor Engfield, head of Proxcen space labs, discovers the lost Galaxy key and decides to go there. The gatekeepers of the Supreme Galaxy are alerted. The V, protector of our Universe, and Angel Abrida are called upon to stop the encounter of the two worlds. During their stay in the Supreme Galaxy, the V and his companion princess Celestia are forcefully separated by the gatekeepers. Professor Engfield battles his way towards his target with no remorse. This becomes a journey which leads him to a shocking realization about himself.
